Gretchen Bleiler is recognized today as one of the premier female snowboarders in her generation. With dozens of outstanding accomplishments in the female halfpipe category of snowboarding, she still finds herself pushing herself to the limit and striving to accomplish the impossible.
With her reputation significantly popularized by her jaw-dropping aerial trick called the “Crippler 540”, she still goes all out in every competition and performs even greater than the said maneuver. As her career progresses, she was subsequently distinguished by numerous snowboarding aficionados that acknowledged her talents and flare with the likes of other famous extreme sports athlete such as Tony Hawk and Shaun White. From there, Gretchen knew that her career as a snowboarder is going sky-rocket to stardom.
Eventually, it all happened sooner than she expected it to be and in the 2003 winter X-games, Gretchen showed the fans how versatile she can be, by grabbing her first gold medal on X-Games. Another milestone in her career happened in 2006 Winter Olympics where she represented the U.S. for female halfpipe leg and won the silver medal.
With her successful career in place and still growing, the media approached her to take dozens of interviews, TV ads, hosting and finally, a clothing line, specially designed by her. K2 and Oakley, one of the leading names of snowboarding gear had decided to make her the endorser/designer of their products.
Gretchen is also active in different environmental affiliates as she supported one of them named stopglobalwarming.org a coalition to prevent the effects of global warming. Sometimes, she also guests in different seminar on how to educate and persuade the youth to devote themselves into sport and not into drugs. Showing the kind of role-model that she is, eventually she is nominated as the Teen’s Choice Award.
